it's possible i've been in few communities that mod and i myself mod alsao but not with sparkedit i mean real modding. on windows you can use sparkedit to mod halo 1 but since i got mac i haven't even tried it but i know some random stuff about it. google it

MAAAAAAJOR modding could change a h1 map, weps, everything, to a all included h2 map... except leading stays
